Cambridge - Avon Hill/Area 9

Despite some of the obvious drawbacks of my abode in Cambridge - 777 square foot, fourth floor walk-up, laundry in the basement, no control over the heat, no a/c, no outdoor space, no parking - I still love it here.  I know someday, probably soon, I will need to make a change.  A live-in, work-from-home architect (boyfriend), an 8 year old soccer player (boy), a 10 year old energetic fur-ball (border collie) and me, make for cozy quarters, but for now, we enjoy it despite occasionally stepping on each other's toes (paws).

The neighborhood is just that.  A friendly mix of gorgeous old homes and brick buildings (apartments and condos) on tree lined streets.  It provides a quiet, pleasant area to walk and yet affords the accessibility to transportation, services, restaurants and shopping. A stone's throw from schools and universities as well as the newly redesigned Harvard Art museum boasting a wonderful permanent collection.

I appreciate the quick jaunt to some amazing restaurants, Shepard (where was once Chez Henri) and Giulia.  There's also the standby pubs, Temple Bar, Cambridge Common (my son's favorite) and The Abbey, to name a few within a 5 minute walk.  There are coffee shops, markets and boutiques all within a stones throw.

The Radcliffe Quad is just around the corner, and is a great place to play soccer and lounge in their Adirondack chairs in the sun.   The elementary school and the Corcoran field/playground on Raymond street provide other options for enjoying the out of doors, swinging and shooting hoops.

All in all, it's a very special place to call home.
