Anticipation...

The first day of April seems like the perfect day to begin anew -- and it's sunny here in Boston--much needed sunshine to melt the still lingering snow.

Anticipation of spring is high...  and as we slogged through the end of winter, I began to see some signs of change.

I've lived in my humble abode for almost 5 years now.  It's a fourth floor walk-up in a beautiful old brick Harlow building located in a quiet neighborhood near the Radcliffe quad in Cambridge, MA.  I'm fortunate to have had an iconic restaurant only a stone's throw away, Chez Henri.  I loved to sit at the bar and enjoy the best item on the menu - their cubano.  They closed about a year ago, and I've watched as nothing happened, and then contractors happened, and then a couple of weeks ago i saw the sign coming down.  the end and the beginning of what is yet to come.  I've since seen the bar tender at Highland Kitchen, another favorite, and rumors have it that a new, brighter space is anticipated to open in about a month. According to Eater Boston, the new owners hail from Hi-Rise bread and the since closed Upstairs on the Square and will call it Shepard

I for one am highly anticipating the opening.

As we look to spring, there is also the anticipation of more construction... or hopefully the end-thereof of construction on the Longfellow Bridge that connects Kendall Square with Beacon Hill in a current mangle of traffic. It's clear they too are thinking of the end, that glorious point where they apply that final coat of shiny paint.  only what color shall they choose...
